City will present Civic Center plans at meeting

FARMINGTON — The city of Farmington will present final design plans for the expansion and renovation of the Farmington Civic Center during a public meeting next week.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at the Farmington Civic Center, 200 W. Arrington St.
The City Council approved the designs during a meeting on Tuesday morning. The designs include a 5,500-square-foot interior expansion, as well as renovations of the interior and exterior of the building.
The project is being funded through an $11.5 million loan approved by the council in August.
The loan will be repaid using revenue generated by a $2.50 per night fee that visitors pay for staying in hotel rooms in Farmington. The money raised by that fee can only be spent on projects related to the Civic Center.
