FARMINGTON — The local nonprofit organization Identity Inc. is hosting an event Friday night to raise community awareness about the issue of hate crimes in San Juan County.

The nonprofit lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people community resource center will present STOP HATE NM from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Farmington Museum at Gateway Park at 3041 E. Main St. in Farmington.

The free event is designed to help make a positive change in the community by bringing people together to stop hate crimes in San Juan County.

A number of speakers, including Farmington police Chief Steve Hebbe, will be at the event. Attendees will learn about regional agencies and organizations that can provide support to people in need, including crisis intervention.

The event will include music by Alex Blocker, Dyzynus and Corey Allison.
