FARMINGTON — Arcing power lines caused a brush fire to break out this afternoon threatening structures on West Navajo Street in Farmington.
Farmington firefighters and police were dispatched at about 4:10 p.m. to the 500 block of W. Navajo St. after a fire was spotted in a wooded area behind a residence, according to Farmington fire Battalion Chief Brian Balfour.
No one was injured in the fire, he said.
Balfour said firefighters located the quarter-acre blaze, which threatened several nearby structures, and quickly extinguished it.
"Crews made a quick knockdown of it," Balfour said.
Balfour said an investigator determined the fire was started after high winds caused power lines to sway into nearby tree branches.
