FARMINGTON – City officials will meet with community members to discuss the future of the Brookside Pool at 6 p.m. Monday at the Farmington Civic Center, 200 W. Arrington St.

The pool was built in 1958 and faces various problems, including failing equipment and a leak of more than 1 million gallons of water each year. It also does not meet flow standards or Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.

Because of those problems, the city is considering closing the pool.

According to a press release from the city of Farmington's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs department, the meeting Monday will focus on health and safety issues, as well as the cost of potential repairs.

If the pool is closed, there will be future community meetings to discuss an outdoor aquatic facility.
