FARMINGTON — The city of Farmington's finance division has won three awards from a professional association of municipal finance officers.

The division, run by Andy Mason, won the Government Finance Officers Association’s "Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting" for its fiscal year 2014 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.

The division has won the award for 21 consecutive years.Twelve other governments in New Mexico received the award this year.

Farmington's finance division also won the "Distinguished Budget Presentation Award" for the city’s fiscal year 2015 budget for the 18th consecutive year. That award was also given to 10 other governments in the state.

The division further won an award for the city’s fiscal year 2014 Citizens Financial Report. The city won that award, which three other governments in the state received, for the fifth straight year.

“These kinds of awards help Farmington stand out across the state,” Mayor Tommy Roberts said in a Tuesday work session.
