San Juan Regional Medical Center will offer low-cost blood screening on Oct. 14 at San Juan College's Henderson Fine Arts Center
FARMINGTON — The San Juan Regional Medical Center will offer low-cost blood screenings from 6 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14 in Room 9006 of San Juan College's Henderson Fine Arts Building.
There will be a total of six tests performed, including a metabolic panel and a vitamin D screening, both costing $15 each. Lipid and thyroid profiles will be $10 each. Prostate screening and hemoglobin and hematocrit screening will also be $10. The clinic will only accept cash or a check.
The testing is important to prevent illness and provide early detection of problems, according to a press release from the medical center.
No appointments are necessary, but people younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Blood draws are first come, first served.
To be tested, people must fast for 12 hours prior to the procedure, but drinking water will not affect the test results.
The test results will be mailed to the recipient within two weeks. At that point, people should set up an appointment with a health care professional to discuss the results, according to the press release..
