Pizza 9 fundraiser benefits late deputy's family
FARMINGTON — All Pizza 9 restaurants in New Mexico, including the one in Farmington, will hold a fundraiser on Wednesday to benefit the family of a Valencia County Sheriff’s Department deputy who was killed last week.
Deputy Ryan Thomas, 30, was killed last week in a single-vehicle crash near Belen while responding to a call for service, according to The Associated Press.
He is survived by a pregnant wife and a daughter.
Pizza 9 will donate 100 percent of its profits on Wednesday to Thomas' family.
"Pizza 9 only has one location in Valencia County, but recognizes that tragedies like these impact the entire state. Pizza 9 hopes to show their support to the Thomas family, the Valencia County Sheriff’s Department, and all law enforcement during this difficult time," said Karina Rodriguez, a spokeswoman for the restaurant, in a press release.
There are 19 Pizza 9 locations in New Mexico. Farmington's restaurant is located at 685 Scott Ave.
