Farmington shelter will stop accepting Bloomfield pets
Restriction goes into effect March 1
FARMINGTON — The Farmington Regional Animal Shelter will stop accepting animals from within Bloomfield city limits starting March 1, according to a press release from the Farmington Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs department.
According to the press release, Farmington decided to stop accepting the animals from Bloomfield because Bloomfield is not paying for the service.
Bloomfield has an agreement with the city of Aztec for its animals to be housed at the Aztec Animal Shelter. Bloomfield residents wanting to surrender a pet should take the animal to the Aztec shelter, 825 Sabena St. Strays found in Bloomfield should also be taken to the Aztec shelter.
While Farmington will not accept the animals from Bloomfield, Bloomfield residents can still adopt pets from the Farmington shelter, according to the press release.
