Election date set for Bloomfield
FARMINGTON – Bloomfield city councilors unanimously approved a resolution on Monday to set a municipal election for March 1, 2016.
The election will determine the holder of the seats now occupied by Curtis Lynch and Matt Pennington.
Dorothy Nobis, the city’s communication and marketing specialist, said on Tuesday that Lynch and Pennington have not decided whether they will seek re-election.
Candidacy forms for the two City Council positions must be filed with the city clerk on Jan. 5, 2016, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1.
Absentee ballot applications can be obtained only from the City Clerk’s Office inside Bloomfield City Hall at 915 N. First St. The deadline for absentee ballot applications is 5 p.m. on Feb. 26.
Early voting will be held in the City Clerk’s Office from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 10 to Feb. 26.
Bloomfield residents who would like to register to vote must register with the San Juan County Clerk by 5 p.m. on Feb. 2.
