AZTEC — Minium Park in Aztec was full of activity Tuesday evening as the 16th annual National Night Out event organized by the Aztec Police Department took place.

The national event is held annually for law enforcement and residents to come together and say crime is not welcome in their community. It also provides an environment for residents and law enforcement to interact with each other.

Tuesday's activities included an old car show, a donut eating contest with Aztec Police Chief Mike Heal and Aztec officers, and a carnival.

Nearly 120 local businesses signed up to have a booth at the event.

A memorial was scheduled to honor 17-year-old students Francisco "Paco" Fernandez and Casey J. Marquez, who were shot and killed Dec. 7 at Aztec High School.
