San Juan College president to receive honor

FARMINGTON — San Juan College President Toni Pendergrass will be inducted into the Aztec Municipal Schools Hall of Fame on Friday.

San Juan College President Toni Pendergrass will become a member of the Aztec Municipal Schools Hall of Fame when she is inducted during a halftime ceremony at tonight's Aztec-Kirtland Central football game.

Pendergrass graduated from Aztec High School in 1989, where she participated in the student council, the Future Farmers of America and basketball, according to an announcement by the hall of fame committee.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture economics and business, and a master’s degree in agricultural economics and economics, both from New Mexico State University.

In addition, she earned a doctorate in educational administration from the University of Texas at Austin.

Prior to joining San Juan College, she served as vice president for learning at the San Jacinto College South Campus in Houston.

She was named San Juan College president in July 2012.

Pendergrass is the daughter of Carroll and Marylee Hopper. She is married to Douglas Pendergrass, and they have three children.

The induction ceremony will take place during halftime of the Aztec High School homecoming game at the Fred Cook Memorial Stadium in Aztec.
