FARMINGTON – A meeting to discuss drainage in the Kokopelli and Blanco arroyo areas is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, April 21 at Aztec City Hall.

During the meeting, representatives of AECOM, a firm hired to conduct drainage studies, will present the results of the studies and talk to the public about what people can expect during 25- and 100-year storm events, according to a press release from the city of Aztec.

The city hired AECOM following a storm in August that damaged private and public properties throughout Aztec and portions of the county. Two of the areas hit the hardest by the storm were neighborhoods along the Kokopelli Arroyo in east Aztec and the Blanco Arroyo, which runs by the high school and downtown area.

The engineers already have met with residents to gather information about what happened during the August storm, as well as during previous storms, such as one in 2013 that also caused damage in those areas.

People who attend the meeting will be able to find their houses on displays, and discuss drainage and water impacts on their property forecast by computer software programs.
