FARMINGTON – The city of Aztec's Parks Department is teaming up with the San Juan County Fire Department and the San Juan College Fire Academy to burn vegetation Saturday in west Aztec, according to an announcement from the city of Aztec.

The burn will be done between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., and smoke may be visible in neighborhoods in the Swire Avenue area.

The vegetation that will be burned is near the Animas River. The burn is designed to reduce fuels building up in the area while training students in wildland fire-suppression techniques.

For more information, call Craig Daugherty or David Vega at the San Juan County Fire Department at 505-334-1180.
