Calendar: Here are some upcoming events happening Oct. 3 through Oct. 9

The 108th Northern Navajo Nation Fair takes place Oct. 3-6 at the fairgrounds in Shiprock. Hours are 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Oct. 3-4, 8 a.m. to midnight Oct. 5 and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 6. The event includes a carnival, a rodeo, dancing, horticulture and livestock exhibitions, parades, live music and more. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for ages 55 and older and children ages 6 to 12, and free for kids age 5 and younger, and veterans with valid ID.

The Downtown Makers Market takes place from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 3 in downtown Farmington. The event features vendors of various local products, including produce, jams and jellies, leather goods, baked goods and repurposed items. Admission is free. Call 505-599-8442.

An opening reception for "The San Juan College Fine Arts Committee Invitational" featuring Matthew Bahe and Jon Von will take place at 5 p.m. Oct. 4 in the Henderson Fine Arts Center Art Gallery on the college campus, 4601 College Blvd. in Farmington. The AstroFriday series continues at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Oct. 4 in the Planetarium at San Juan College, 4601 College Blvd. in Farmington, with the program "The Aurora Explained," a video focused on the northern lights. The ninth annual Aztec Highland Games & Celtic Festival take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 5-6 at Riverside Park, 500 S. Light Plant Road in Aztec.
