Aztec man killed in motorcycle-vehicle collision
Incident occurred Sept. 14 at County Road 350/N.M. Highway 516
FARMINGTON — An Aztec man was killed on the afternoon of Sept. 14 in a vehicle and motorcycle collision in the Flora Vista area.
Joaquin Aguilar, 43, was riding a motorcycle that was involved in a collision with a white Chevy Impala on the afternoon of Sept. 14 near the intersection of County Road 350 and N.M. Highway 516, according to San Juan County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jayme Harcrow.
Deputies and San Juan County firefighters were dispatched to the scene around 2:48 p.m. on a report of an accident with injuries.
Paramedics transported Aguilar to the San Juan Regional Medical Center emergency room, where he died from his injuries.
The investigation in the crash is ongoing, and many details are still being determined, Harcrow said.
Such elements as the narrative of how the collision occurred, whether alcohol was a factor and whether occupants of the passenger car were wearing seat belts are still under investigation.
The incident was the second fatal vehicle crash in four days in San Juan County.
Tyeshea Atole, 35, of Farmington, was killed on the afternoon of Sept. 11 in vehicle rollover crash along U.S. Highway 64 east of Blanco, according to The Daily Times archives.
She was a passenger in a 2005 GMC SUV and was ejected when the vehicle left the roadway and rolled. Atole was flown to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead from her injuries.
The driver and three other passengers, including a 4-year-old girl, sustained injuries that were not believed to be life threatening.
The New Mexico State Police, the agency handling the investigation, have not released new details since Sept. 12
