A large crowd gathered at Farmington's Bonnie Dallas Senior Center on Aug. 28 for the facility's More Than Meets the Eye open house celebration.

The event was designed to introduce community members to all the services the center offers. The day's activities included breakfast, lunch, musical entertainment by Sheldon Pickering and Sallyanne Bachman, the unveiling of a wall of honor featuring local military veterans, tours of the facility, a slide show, information booths and a chance for visitors to interact with city officials.

Officials from the senior center also were selling tickets to their spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Sept. 6 that will feature a performance by Farmington's Chevel Shepherd, a recent winner of NBC-TV's "The Voice." Jack Lowery, the center's adult programs manager, said all 300 tickets for the event sold out within 30 minutes.
