Water commission will hear a presentation about drought

Several other local government boards will meet this week

FARMINGTON — A representative of the Interstate Stream Commission is scheduled to speak about drought to the San Juan Water Commission during its monthly meeting at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the commission’s office building located at 7450 E. Main St. in Farmington.

Rolf Schmidt-Petersen, the Colorado River Basin bureau chief for the Interstate Stream Commission, will give a presentation about the drought contingency plan.

The water commission also will hear an update on the Animas-La Plata Project.

MPO Technical Committee to discuss pavement performance measures

The Farmington Metropolitan Planning Organization’s Technical Committee will have a public hearing about performance measures used to evaluate pavement and bridge conditions.

The committee meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bloomfield City Hall, 915 N. 1st St. in Bloomfield. The Technical Committee also will hear an update about the bicycle and pedestrian plan that is in development for San Juan County.

College, Farmington school boards will meet

San Juan College Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the college board room at 4601 College Blvd. to discuss purchasing a commissioned sculpture for the Sherman Dugan Museum of Geology.

It also may have a closed session to discuss purchasing property at 3401 E. 30th S. in Farmington to expand college services or offerings.

The Farmington Municipal School District board will have a work session at 3:45 p.m. Thursday to discuss its strategic plan. The work session will be followed by a meeting at 5:15 p.m. at 2001 N. Dustin Ave.

County Commission meeting date changed

The San Juan County Commission meeting originally scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday has been moved to 4 p.m. Thursday due to Tuesday's election. The agenda had not been released Friday.
