FARMINGTON — The Farmington City Council will discuss drought conditions during its 6 p.m. Tuesday meeting at Farmington City Hall, 800 N. Municipal Drive.

The City Council could choose to lift the mandatory water restrictions that have been in place since the summer. The city will continue to ask residents to voluntarily conserve water.

The City Council also is scheduled to hear a presentation by Brian Tremko of the Southwest Council of Carpenters regarding “right to work” — a measure that would make it illegal for businesses to require employees to pay union dues or fees.

Farmington does not have a “right to work” ordinance and is researching the advantages and disadvantages of adopting one, as well as possible liabilities related to such measures.

No action regarding “right to work” will be taken Tuesday.

Aztec, Kirtland and Bloomfield also will meet

The Aztec City Commission will discuss two applications from HilCorp to modify existing well pads within city limits.

The commission also will discuss the Aztec Sparkles Christmas lighting contest. The commission’s regular meeting starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Aztec City Hall, 200 W. Chaco St. It will be preceded by a work session about the lighting contest.

The Kirtland Town Council meets at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kirtland Town Hall, 47 County Road 6500. It will discuss creating a town zoning map.

The Bloomfield City Council will hear a monthly finance report when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday at Bloomfield City Hall, 915 N. 1st St.
