State police identify man killed in fatal wreck north of Aztec
Flora Vista resident who died was not wearing seat belt
FARMINGTON — Authorities have identified the driver involved in a fatal vehicle rollover Monday north of Aztec.
Stanley Hoyt, 60, of Flora Vista, was ejected from the pickup truck he was driving when it left the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 550 and overturned, according to a New Mexico State Police press release.
State police started investigating the crash that took place around 1 p.m. Monday near mile marker 168 on the highway between Aztec and the New Mexico/Colorado state line.
Hoyt was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the press release.
The San Juan County Sheriff's Office and the county fire department also responded to the crash.
A witness called dispatch and stated the vehicle flipped four times, San Juan County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jayme Harcrow told The Daily Times.
Investigators believe alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
