Emergency simulation scheduled for detention center
FARMINGTON — Local law enforcement, emergency services and industry officials are teaming up for simulated disaster training from 7 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center, 871 Andrea Drive in Farmington, according to a press release from the San Juan County Office of Emergency Management.
Law enforcement and emergency services personnel will be active at the detention center throughout the event.
Because the simulation is designed to mimic real-world events, the first responders will react as if it is a real event. According to the press release, this could make the simulation appear real to observers.
The exercise gives first responders a chance to train to create a safe community.

The event is sponsored by the New Mexico Gas Company.
