FARMINGTON — Cedar Hill community members rallied together last year to ask the San Juan County Commission to repair a historic bridge over the Animas River that connects the two parts of the community.

Now, County Public Works director Fran Fillerup will present an update about the bridge during the County Commission meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the county administration office, 100 S. Oliver Drive in Aztec.

The bridge was closed in December due to concerns that it could collapse while people were on it.

Vehicular traffic has been banned on the bridge since the 1990s, but it has served as a pedestrian bridge since then.

Repairing the bridge could cost between $400,000 and $500,000.

Other topics on the agenda include an update about drought conditions and the burn ban, an update on San Juan Regional Medical Center’s AirCare program, and an update on Four Corners Economic Development’s recent activities.

Kirtland, Bloomfield, Aztec and Farmington also will meet

The town of Kirtland will consider and possibly approve the establishment of a growers market or vendors market and will likely adopt its final budget for fiscal year 2019. Kirtland’s Town Council meets at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at 47 County Road 6500.

The Bloomfield City Council will discuss wage adjustments and releasing its police dog to its former handler during its 6 p.m. Monday meeting at 915 N. 1st St.

The Aztec City Commission may adopt changes in its trash rates during its 6 p.m. Tuesday meeting at 201 W. Chaco St.

The Farmington City Council also will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The council meets at Farmington City Hall, 800 N. Municipal Drive.
