Farmington City Council will consider mandatory water restrictions
Bloomfield council may appoint interim police chief

FARMINGTON — The Farmington City Council may vote to implement mandatory water restrictions during its meeting this week.
The restrictions are part of the second stage of the city's drought management plan. If the City Council chooses to implement the restrictions, residents will be allowed to water their lawn and landscaping only on certain days of the week.
The City Council meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 800 N. Municipal Drive.
The city looks at various indicators before implementing restrictions. Those indicators include the level of water in the Animas River, the snowpack near Silverton, Colorado, and the Palmer Drought Severity Index.
Drought conditions have been worsening since the beginning of the year. The city already has implemented a water-shortage advisory that calls for voluntary conservation.
Farmington officials had hoped to reduce consumption to 13.52 million gallons of water each day. However, the city has not met that goal. According to the city’s website, the average use for the past 30 days has been a little less than 18.2 million gallons of water daily.

Bloomfield to discuss police chief position
The Bloomfield City Council will discuss appointing an interim police chief during its 6 p.m. Monday meeting at City Hall, 915 N. 1st St.
Chief Randy Foster announced his retirement last week and will be moving to Arizona.
The council will also discuss penalties and fees for certain traffic violations.
The Aztec City Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Aztec City Hall, 201 W. Chaco St.
The Kirtland Town Council will meet at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kirtland Town Hall, 47 County Road 6500.
Meetings scheduled for school boards
Four San Juan County school districts have board meetings scheduled for this week.
The Central Consolidated School District Board of Education is scheduled to hear reports during a work session at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Shiprock Boardroom in Shiprock.
The board's agenda was not published Friday, but a press release posted on the website for the district listed the reports. Those reports cover such subjects as the Johnson-O'Malley Program, a memorandum of understanding for the Evolvement Partner Program at Newcomb High School, a resolution regarding the Open Meetings Act, and an examination of the schedule for the board's work sessions and regular meetings for the 2018-2019 school year.
The Bloomfield School District and the Farmington Municipal School District are scheduled to approved their final budget for the 2018-2019 school year.
The Bloomfield school board is set to meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the administration building board room. The Farmington school board is set to meet at 5:15 p.m. Thursday in the board room at the administration building.
The Aztec Municipal School District Board of Education is set to meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in the administration board room. An agenda for the meeting was not available.
