FARMINGTON โ€” Thousands of visitors flocked to Animas and Berg parks today for the 32nd edition of Riverfest, the city's annual celebration of the Animas River corridor, to enjoy live music, food and drink, whitewater rafting, a wide variety of vendors, disc golf, yoga sessions, games and other activities.

Lower-than-normal spring runoff has generated concerns about the level of water in the river, but the waterway was full for the opening of the event. Today's festivities got underway in the morning with a 5k run and continued throughout the day with the annual wiener dog races, tractor rides, the new Water Gun Alley attraction, Xeriscape garden tours and more.

The festival continues from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday with a classic car show at 10 a.m. at Cottonwood Landing, a recycled fashion show at 11 a.m. at the River Reach Terrace, gourd dancing, Roverfest and the Riverfest Duck Race at 3 p.m. down Willetts Ditch near River Reach Landing with a first prize of $2,000.

Admission to the festival is free, and Red Apple Transit is running shuttle bus service from the Farmington Museum at Gateway Park to various stops at the festival. Call 505-716-4405 for more information.
