There are four local contested races that likely will be decided during the primary election.
Republican voters also can choose judge candidates for the general election.
Three Republicans are running for magistrate judge Division 1.
Erich Cole, who was appointed to the position earlier this year, will face former Magistrate Judge Gary McDaniel and former police detective Frank Ernest Dart.
Gary Edd Risley, Brandt E. Thrower and Stacey D. Biel are vying for the Republican position on the ballot in the general election.
No Democratic Party or Libertarian Party candidates filed for magistrate judge or probate judge.
Democrats who live in the western part of the county will have the chance to vote for a County Commission member. Incumbent Wallace Charley will face former commissioner GloJean Todacheene, Shiprock resident Wetona Becenti and Crownpoint resident Zachariah Jason George in the primary election.
The winner will be on the ballot during the November general election. No Republicans or Libertarians are running for the seat.
