A winter solstice celebration takes place at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Farmington Public Library, 2101 Farmington Ave. The event includes the presentation of the library's Let There Be Light awards, music by the Kody Dayish Band, games and an observation of the winter solstice. The Winter Solstice Alignment Observation takes place at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Aztec Ruins National Monument, 725 Ruins Road in Aztec. Rangers and volunteers will escort visitors to the alignment location at the Aztec West great house. Standard entrance fees apply. Call 505-334-6174.

A walk-through Bethlehem display takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Cross Roads Community Church of the Nazarene, 2400 N. Butler Ave. in Farmington. Tours are approximately 20 minutes in length. Call 505-325-2600.

A Stars and Stories session takes place at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Riverside Nature Center in Animas Park of Browning Parkway in Farmington. The free evening walk through Animas Park offers participants the chance to learn about constellations and autumn stars. Participants are urged to dress for the weather and bring a flashlight.
