County, Aztec commissions to meet Tuesday

FARMINGTON — The San Juan County Commission and the Aztec City Commission will meet Tuesday evening.

A truck drives on an unpaved section of County Road 3900 on Friday in Crouch Mesa.

The County Commission will have its regular meeting at 4 p.m., and the Aztec City Commission will have a special work session at 6 p.m.

A proposal to extend a cooperative project agreement between the county and the New Mexico Department of Transportation for construction on County Road 3900 is one of the items on the agenda for the County Commission. The county road is located on Crouch Mesa. The county hopes to someday connect County Road 3900 with Piñon Hills Boulevard in Farmington.

County Executive Officer Kim Carpenter said the construction on County Road 3900 is a project that the county has been trying to collaborate on with the state for years.

"It's been long overdue," he said.

The commission also will discuss the possible implementation of some capital bond projects.

Meanwhile, the Aztec City Commission will discuss its work plan for fiscal year 2017.

The County Commission meets in the County Administration Building, 100 S. Oliver Drive in Aztec. The City Commission meets at City Hall, 201 W. Chaco St. in Aztec.
