FARMINGTON — The Four Corners Invitational of the Special Olympics will kick off Friday in San Juan County.

The annual event includes aquatics, softball and golf. The golf tournament will start at 8 a.m. Friday , and awards will be presented to the athletes at 11:30 a.m. The tournament participants will be divided between several San Juan County golf courses, including the Piñon Hills Golf Course and Civitan Golf Course in Farmington, the Riverview Golf Course in Kirtland and the Aztec Municipal Golf Course.

The opening ceremonies for the Four Corners Invitational will start at 6 p.m. at McGee Park, 41 County Road 5568. Following the opening ceremonies, a police parade escort will lead the athletes to Ricketts Park, 1101 Fairgrounds Road in Farmington, where the softball tournament will take place from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Aquatics competitions will be held across the street from Ricketts Park on Saturday at the Farmington Aquatic Center. The aquatics competitions will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday.

The closing ceremonies will be from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday at McGee Park, followed by the Victory Dance.
