FARMINGTON — Snow and hazardous road conditions prompted schools in Aztec to cancel classes on Tuesday and schools in other districts to start two hours later than usual.

Schools in Bloomfield, Farmington and Kirtland, as well as Ojo Amarillo Elementary School and San Juan College, were among those with delayed start times because of the storm.

The storm was the first of a series the National Weather Service predicts will come through San Juan County this week.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather advisory Tuesday morning.

According to the advisory, the second storm in the system is expected to move through the area on Wednesday. This storm is expected to possibly bring snow and rain to northwest New Mexico and may be followed by a third storm on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The third storm will affect the area through Saturday and could bring moderate to heavy snow, according to the advisory.
