FARMINGTON — Law enforcement officials are investigating the death of an unidentified adult male whose body was found at Navajo Agricultural Products Industry headquarters.

FBI spokesman Frank Fisher stated in an email the body was found Wednesday night on the side of Navajo Route 4067 on the NAPI property south of Farmington.

The bureau, along with New Mexico State Police and the Navajo Nation Police Department, are investigating the death as a possible hit-and-run incident.

A possible suspect was detained by tribal police, but the investigation is ongoing, Fisher wrote.

Anyone with information on the victim’s identity is asked to contact the FBI at 505-889-1300. Fisher wrote the victim appeared to be Native American with a thin build and a surgery scar on his left arm.

A press release from NAPI on Thursday stated the “vehicle-related fatality” happened a mile south of the Region II scales at approximately 8:35 p.m. Wednesday.

No further information was provided by NAPI, and the tribal enterprise is cooperating with the investigation, according to the release.
