Work completed at McCormick Elementary, Farmington High

FARMINGTON — Students, and school and Farmington Municipal School District officials held ribbon-cutting ceremonies Wednesday for two projects where renovation work recently was completed.

The first ceremony Wednesday was held at McCormick Elementary School as district and school personnel spoke about the project before the Farmington Chamber of Commerce Redcoats help cut the ribbon outside the school's entrance.

Guided tours were given for community members to show off the renovations and new construction, including a new wing of classrooms for first-grade and kindergarten classes.

A ceremony celebrating the completion of the new Farmington High School was held following the McCormick Elementary ceremony.

Nearly all of the school's buildings were demolished, and new structures, including new classroom buildings and a new gym, were built around an enclosed courtyard for student safety.

Work on the school's black box theater, weight room and dance classroom recently were completed.

Guided tours of the Farmington High campus followed the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
