Farmington district hosts tours, ribbon-cutting ceremonies

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Municipal School District is planning ribbon-cutting ceremonies and guided tours of two schools where renovation work recently was completed.

Ribbon-cutting ceremonies are scheduled at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McCormick Elementary School, 701 McCormick School Road, and at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at Farmington High School at 2200 N. Sunset Ave, according to Farmington schools spokesperson Renee Lucero.

Students head to class on Jan. 8 at Farmington High School.

The Farmington High School campus project involved the demolition of nearly all of the school's buildings and the construction of new structures, including a gym around a courtyard.

The guided tours at FHS will start after the ceremony and run until until 6 p.m.

The new construction at McCormick Elementary School included new classrooms, bathrooms, a computer lab, a secure entryway and student drop-off lanes.
