College's ACE Center hosting GED prep session Friday
Pre-onboarding packets due Thursday to participate in Friday's session
FARMINGTON — San Juan College is accepting applications for upcoming high school equivalency diploma preparation programs hosted by the college’s Academic and Career Engagement Center.
The next session is scheduled for Friday, and the program is free and open to the public.
The ACE Center is an adult-education program offered by the college that can help people prepare for the GED test or the college’s entry test, increase employability skills and strengthen reading, writing and math skills, according to the website. ACE Center work study student Larissa Begaye said participants will take practice tests on math, reading, science and social studies before being placed in classes for the eight-hour session.
The center will be hosting onboarding sessions on Jan. 19, Feb. 16 and April 6 and 27. Participants must complete a pre-onboarding packet before attending the workshop that includes creating a professional Gmail account and submitting a one-page essay. Begaye said people who complete the pre-onboarding packet Thursday will be able to attend the Friday session.
Pre-onboarding packets are available at the ACE Center at 3539 E. 30th St. Suite 104 or on the website at sanjuancollege.edu/acecenter.
