KC, PV graduates go through commencement ceremony

FARMINGTON — Two San Juan County high schools held commencement ceremonies tonight.

Kirtland Central High School held its commencement ceremony for graduating students at the Bronco Stadium.

There were 307 students who graduated from Piedra Vista High School at a ceremony at Ricketts Field. Salutatorian Benjamin Van Otteson welcomed the crowd at the ceremony. Student Body President Bekah Eaves introduced the guests on stage, and valedictorian Samantha DeWees-Keller delivered her address to the graduating seniors. Senior Class President Sahira Mendivil led the graduates in the ring and tassel ceremony.

Three county high schools held their graduations ceremonies Wednesday.

There were 24 Career Prep High School students who graduated during a commencement ceremony Wednesday night at the Phil L. Thomas Performing Arts Center in Shiprock. Kimberly Arviso recited the Pledge of Allegiance in English and Adrian Bryant recited it in Navajo. Kyle Parrish lead the invocation. Tamara King and Toni Jones welcomed the guests on stage. Valedictorian Angelica Etsitty and salutatorian Jhaleh Woodis also addressed the crowd. Naomi Harrison honored the parents in the audience. The class officers, and Etsitty, King and Harrison and salutatorian Woodis led the students in a tassel ceremony. Hanna Begay and Jamie House gave the benediction to end the ceremony.

Seventy-three students from Rocinante High School were honored during a commencement ceremony Wednesday night at the Farmington Civic Center. The student speakers were Brittany Nez, Dario Nicholson, Atlanta Shafer, Diane Aguirre, Dalton Garcia, Qua-Hu James and Brittany Lucero.

Ten graduates from Vista Nueva High School celebrated commencement during a commencement ceremony Wednesday night in the Aztec High School multi-purpose room. Cierra Babock welcomed the crowd and lead the Pledge of Allegiance. John Hubbard IV gave introductions, and Courtney Tiley followed by introducing the student speakers, Anjelika Savedra and Samantha Gifford.  Summer Bustillos and Cami Cornell lead the students in the tassel ceremony.
