District hosts family leadership info meeting

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Municipal School District and Engaging Latino Communities for Education, or ENLACE, will host an informational meeting about an upcoming series of workshops for the Family Leadership Institute.

Retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Consuelo Castillo Kickbusch, who created the national Family Leadership Institute program, will speak during a meeting from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Farmington Public Library, 2101 Farmington Ave.

She will discuss how the upcoming workshops will teach parents to help their students succeed in school.

Thirty parents graduated from the first group of workshops, according to Mesa View Middle School Principal David Gardner.

The second group of parents will participate in seven workshops from Feb. 22 to April 19 at the Farmington Public Library. The group will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesdays. Refreshments will be served from 5 to 5:30 p.m., and the meeting will run from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. There will be no classes March 1 and 22.

The informational meeting and workshops are free and include refreshments and free child care.
