SHIPROCK — All schools in Bloomfield, Aztec, Farmington and Central Consolidated school district will be on a two-hour delayed start today due to inclement weather.

CCSD Interim Superintendent Colleen Bowman made the decision to delay classes after consulting with district officials late Thursday evening.

Rain and snow had been falling throughout the county Thursday evening and freezing temperatures overnight made driving hazardous.

In a letter Gene Schmidt, the Farmington superintendent, sent parents and staff in November, the district outlines reasons a delay could be issued. These reasons include road conditions, the amount of snow and ice, whether all buildings have heat and electricity, ice and snow on the sidewalks and temperature and wind chill.

Morning pre-school in all four districts has been canceled.
