FARMINGTON — San Juan College has closed its Main and 30th Street campuses in Farmington and West Campus in Kirtland tonight due to a power outage.

Spokeswoman Rhonda Schaefer said due to a major power outage affecting the three campuses, all students, staff and faculty are being asked to leave the college grounds.

All classes at the three campuses are canceled for tonight.

The East Campus in Aztec remains open and will have classes on the normal schedule.

Class registration has been extended to 5 p.m. on Wednesday due to the power outage.

Students can check San Juan College's Facebook page for updates.

The power outage affected the College, Foothills and Fruitland substations, according to Rodney Romero, acting utility director for the Farmington Electric Utility System.

Romero said the College and Foothills substations are back online and crews were working on the Fruitland substation.

The outage affected about 15 to 20 percent of Farmington Electric Utility System customers.
