FARMINGTON — A free camp for area teachers will be held Thursday at the Aztec Ruins National Monument to showcase how resources at the national park can be integrated into classroom lessons.

The Kinteel Teacher Kamp will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Attendees will visit a number of areas led by Nathan Thompson, a Teacher-Ranger-Teacher at the park who works at Tibbetts Middle School in Farmington.

Thompson has used placed-based lessons since 2006, teaching about the use of native clay soil in the construction material at Mesa Verde National Park.

Teachers can register for the free workshop by contacting the front desk at Aztec Ruins at 505-334-6174, Ext. 0 and by email at azru_education@nps.gov.

Attendees should include name, phone number, email address, school, grade level, and subject in voicemail or email.
