Woman arrested in connection to elderly woman ran over with SUV
FARMINGTON — A Bloomfield woman has been arrested in connection with an incident where a California man is accused of repeatedly running over an elderly woman with his SUV.
Antoinette Gutierrez, 40, has been charged with a felony count of accessory to knowingly leaving the scene of an accident, according to a Bloomfield Police Department press release.
Eddie Hernandez, 34, of Visalia, California, is accused of severely injuring an elderly woman by driving over her repeatedly with his vehicle in the parking lot of the Bloomfield Dollar General Store, according to court documents.
The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington.
Her injuries included a brain bleed and a fractured collarbone.
Bloomfield Police Administrative Supervisor Suzanne Moore told The Daily Times on May 22 that the victim was alert and oriented.
Gutierrez is accused of telling Hernandez to leave the scene then entering the driver's side of the vehicle. She also allegedly told witnesses and officers she drove over the woman multiple times.
Hernandez's arrest warrant affidavit stated the manager of the Dollar General at 1502 W. Broadway Ave. told officers Gutierrez was in the checkout line when Hernandez allegedly shoplifted, and she then witnessed Gutierrez leaving the store behind him.
