Police find body of missing 1-year-old girl
Parents taken into custody before body was located
FARMINGTON — The search for a missing 1-year-old girl whose parents had been spotted in Farmington ended tonight when the girl's body was discovered in Albuquerque, according to The Associated Press.
The Albuquerque Police Department had requested the public's help in locating 1-year-old Anastazia Zuber, whose parents last were seen in Farmington. The search for the girl began Dec. 18 when Anastazia's father, David J. "DJ" Zuber, told his mother Eva that the infant had drowned in the bathtub, according to Albuquerque police.
The department stated it had not been contacted about the alleged drowning, and Albuquerque police could confirm if Anastazia was alive or safe. According to the AP, her body was found tonight in a house in northeast Albuquerque, and an autopsy is planned to determine her cause of death.
When they initiated the search, police believed Anastazia was with 26-year-old DJ and her mother Monique Romero, 23. The AP reported that the parents were found earlier today at a different house before their daughter's body was located, and the two face child abuse charges.
Before they were taken into custody today, the parents were last seen in Farmington, driving an unknown make of vehicle, according to Albuquerque police. DJ and Monique also had their two other children with them; Athena Zuber and David Zuber III. The AP reported the other children were in state custody tonight.
