FARMINGTON — An Aztec man is accused of possession and distribution of child pornography using a social networking website.

Cisco Kane Veneno is accused of viewing and sharing computer files depicting child pornography in June using the social networking site Tumblr, according to the arrest warrant affidavit.

Veneno, 23, is specifically accused of distribution of visual medium of sexual exploitation of children and possession of visual medium of sexual exploitation of children, according to court records.

Sarah Field, Veneno's public defender, said it was too early to comment on the case.

The San Juan County Sheriff's Office started its investigation on Oct. 4 when a detective gave a deputy a report to review and asked him to obtain a search warrant for a residence in the 500 block of Rio Pecos Road in Aztec.

A detective from the Sheriff's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force had received that report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. It said a person later identified as Veneno allegedly viewed and shared computer files depicting child pornography.

Several files were allegedly shared around 7:15 p.m. on June 11 on Tumblr from an account Veneno used, according to court documents.

On Aug. 24, a subpoena was issued requesting subscriber information for the IP address owned by Comcast listed in the report.

Comcast provided information on Sept. 5 linking the IP address to the residence in the 500 block of Rio Pecos Road.

The sheriff's office executed a search warrant around 1:33 p.m. on Oct. 18 at the residence.

Two men, including Veneno, were in the residence and interviewed.

A male not charged in the case told the deputy Veneno would stay at the residence on a regular basis.

Veneno told the deputy he had a Tumblr account with a screen name that was listed in the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children report.

Veneno also told the deputy he had downloaded child pornography about two weeks earlier.

The suspect provided an iPhone he owned to a detective, who found a photo depicting child pornography stored on the smartphone, according to court documents.

Veneno was released from the San Juan County Adult Detention Center on Oct. 22 per court order.

His preliminary hearing is set for Thursday morning in Aztec Magistrate Court.
