Farmington bank robber pleaded not guilty in federal court

FARMINGTON — The Farmington man accused of robbing a Farmington bank in August pleaded not guilty in federal court.

Justin Watchman, 26, was indicted in federal court on Sept. 12 on one count of bank robbery, according to court documents.

The suspect is accused of robbing about $3,300 in cash from the First Convenience Bank inside the Walmart located at 4600 E. Main St. on the morning of Aug. 17, according to The Daily Times archives.

Watchman was taken into custody by Farmington Police Department officers around 12:35 p.m. on Aug. 17 when he entered the Navajo Trading Post at 126 E. Main St.

During an arraignment Thursday in Albuquerque federal court, Watchman plead not guilty to the bank robbery charge, according to court documents.

He was remanded into the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service on Aug. 24 after he waived his preliminary hearing.
