Farmington police investigating shooting

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Police Department is investigating a shooting which occurred this afternoon in the area of Vine Avenue and Hollywood Street.

Officers were dispatched around 12:28 p.m. to the 1000 block of Hollywood Street on reports of a shots fired call, according to Farmington police spokesperson Georgette Allen.

A 38-year-old male was shot once in the upper area of his left leg, Allen said. The victim was transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center for treatment. Allen described the victim as awake and alert.

The suspect is a 22-year-old male who was taken into custody by police, according to Allen.

Farmington police are not releasing the names of the victim and suspect as they continue to investigate the shooting.

Police units deployed at both ends of Hollywood Street, blocking traffic as they investigated the scene.

The Farmington Fire Department and paramedics also responded to the call.
