Bags of meth, marijuana found during traffic stop
Suspect faces five charges including trafficking meth
FARMINGTON — A San Juan County man is accused of drug trafficking after police said they searched him and discovered bags of marijuana and methamphetamine.
David Archibeque, 58, is facing five charges including trafficking methamphetamine and bringing contraband into jail, according to the criminal complaint.
Archibeque had three bags of meth and two bags of marijuana in his wallet when a Bloomfield Police Department officer searched him following a traffic stop, according to the police department's probable cause statement.
The officer observed a silver passenger car around 9:51 p.m. on Aug. 12 in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Fourth Street which was reported as being driven by a possible drunk driver.
A traffic stop was initiated after the officer observed the vehicle without taillights.
The officer discovered Archibeque had a revoked driver's license and started to take the suspect into custody.
While conducting a search before taking Archibeque into custody, documents say the officer found the alleged drugs in the suspect's wallet.
Archibeque followed by removing two glass pipes wrapped in towels from his socks, stating he used the pipes to smoke meth, according to the document.
A scale was later retrieved from the vehicle.
A crystal-like substance was located in Archibeque's right pocket while he was being searched at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center.
Archibeque's preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 23 in Aztec Magistrate Court.
He was convicted of one count of dangerous drugs, conditions for sale during a May 7 hearing in Aztec District Court, according to court records.
Archibeque is being held without bond at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center.
