FARMINGTON — A female victim is accusing a man of attempting to rape her after driving her to a local recreational area and trying to prevent her from exiting his vehicle.
Samson Blue, 49, faces four charges, including a first-degree felony count of kidnapping, and fourth-degree felony counts of false imprisonment and aggravated indecent exposure, according to court documents.
He is accused of driving the victim to the Dunes Vehicle Recreation Area where he allegedly rubbed his penis with one hand while placing his other hand on the woman's breast to hold her down on her seat in the vehicle, according to the arrest warrant affidavit.
Arlon Stoker, Blue's attorney, could not be reached for comment today.
The case was investigated by the San Juan County Sheriff's office.
The affidavit states the victim met Blue at the Northern Edge Casino on June 1, and he drove them to the Dunes Recreation Area at 2300 Bisti Highway where the alleged incident occurred.
While holding down the victim on the front passenger seat of the vehicle, Blue allegedly tried to open a condom with one hand as he stood outside the vehicle with the passenger door open. He allegedly used both hands to open a condom and put it on, the affidavit states.
The victim told the Sheriff's Office she then ran toward N.M. Highway 371 to get help. At one point, she crawled under a barbed wire fence to reach the highway.
The victim flagged down a vehicle and told the driver Blue was trying to rape her, which led the driver to call dispatch, according to court documents.
Blue was found later that morning in the parking lot of Alpine Lumber at 400 S. Miller Ave. in Farmington and was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
Blue waived his preliminary hearing on June 14, and his arraignment in Aztec District Court is set for the morning of July 9.
The suspect also has two cases pending for allegedly driving while intoxicated and a pending case for a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance, according to court records.
A Sam Blue was identified as the developer of the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham in Aztec in a Jan. 11, 2014, story in The Daily Times.
The suspect was incarcerated on a no-bond hold at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center Thursday afternoon.
