FARMINGTON — The San Juan County Sheriff's Office has arrested an Aztec man on nearly 300 charges for sexual assault and contact.
Guillermo Jacobo-Perez, 48, is accused of 148 first-degree felony counts of criminal sexual penetration and 148 second-degree felony counts of criminal sexual conduct of a minor, according to a San Juan County Sheriff's Office press release.
The alleged abuse took place once or twice a week during a period of 37 months based on interviews conducted during the investigation.
The Sheriff's Office was contacted about the case around 11 p.m. Friday, according to department spokesperson Jayme Harcrow.
Jacobo-Perez was taken into custody at a relative's house on Saturday and transported to the Sheriff's Office for questioning.
During an interview, Jacobo-Perez said he wanted a lawyer, and the interview ended, Harcrow said.
He was booked into the San Juan County Adult Detention Center Saturday morning and was being held today on a no-bond hold.
