Alleged incidents started when victim was 13 years old
FARMINGTON — An Aztec man is facing 17 felony charges on accusations of giving alcohol and drugs to a teen and sexually assaulting her multiple times.
Dustin Collins, 36, is charged with eight counts of criminal sexual penetration in the second degree, three counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor in the fourth degree, a third-degree felony count of aggravated battery and five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to court documents.
Collins is accused of multiple incidents of sexually assaulting a teen starting when she was 13 years old, according to the arrest warrant affidavit.
Matthew Cockman, Collins' public defender, did not respond to requests for comment.
The victim was interviewed by police on Nov. 16 at the department. She told police Collins had been forcing himself on her and she had sex with him multiple times while being bribed with alcohol or marijuana.
The alleged incidents took place between May 2015 and Oct. 29, 2017, according to court documents.
She told police the first incident occurred in May 2015 at the Kelly RV Park in Aztec when Collins gave her alcohol and she got intoxicated and blacked out.
While the victim was unconscious, Collins is accused of raping her, according to the arrest warrant affidavit.
During an interview with Collins' mother, she told police she was in the RV when her son had sex with the victim and stated she saw the victim unconscious.
Collins made his first appearance Friday morning in Aztec Magistrate Court and was released on a $10,000 unsecured appearance bond, according to court documents. An unsecured appearance bond is a written agreement signed by the defendant to appear in court.
His preliminary hearing is set for 8 am. Thursday.
