Larry June draws eight-year prison term



FARMINGTON — A Shiprock man has been sentenced to eight years and one month in prison for stabbing his wife to death during a heated argument.

Larry June, 58, was sentenced during a hearing Tuesday afternoon in Albuquerque federal court for a voluntary manslaughter conviction, according to a U.S. Department of Justice press release.

He pleaded guilty as part of a plea agreement during an Aug. 21 hearing to stabbing his wife Lucy June to death on Nov. 25, 2016, near Sheep Springs, according to The Daily Times archives.

He was arrested on Nov. 29 and indicted on Dec. 20 on a charge of second-degree murder.

Lucy was bleeding from multiple wounds and was found unresponsive when emergency medical services and Navajo Nation police offers found her on Nov. 25, 2016.

According to witnesses, Larry and Lucy were in a trailer the couple was selling food out of when they had an argument.

The witnesses later observed a man later identified as Larry standing over Lucy as she identified Larry as the man who stabbed her, according to court documents.

Larry will have three years of supervised release upon completion of his prison sentence.
