Shiprock man sentenced to two years in prison for stabbing
FARMINGTON — A Shiprock man has been sentenced to two years in prison for stabbing a woman in the leg.
Aaron Curley, 55, was sentenced today in Albuquerque federal court after pleading guilty to one count of assault with a dangerous weapon on July 10, according to a U.S. Department of Justice press release.
Curley pleaded guilty to stabbing a woman in her left leg and cutting her left arm and hand as she tried to defend herself.
The incident took place on Nov. 20 on the Navajo Nation in San Juan County.
He was arrested in November, and indicted on Dec. 20, 2016, on a count of assault with a dangerous weapon, a knife, with intent to do bodily injury and assault resulting in serious bodily injury, according to the press release.
Curley will have three years of supervised released upon completing his prison sentence.
This case was investigated by the Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety and the Farmington office of the FBI.
