FARMINGTON — The Farmington Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle collision on East 20th Street.

Officers were dispatched at 5:55 p.m. today to the area of the 7-2-11 gas station at 900 E. 20th St. on reports of a vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a black SUV.

The motorcycle rider was declared dead at the scene near the intersection of North Cochiti Avenue and East 20th Street, according to Cpt. Taft Tracy.

The motorcycle was headed west on East 20th Street when the SUV made a right turn from North Cochiti Avenue onto East 20th Street, according to Sgt. Guy Postlewait.

There were no injuries for the SUV driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle.

Police closed East 20th Street from North Mesa Verde Avenue to North Santiago Avenue just after 6 p.m., according to Tracy.
