FARMINGTON — An Aztec resident was killed in a vehicle crash Monday night after his scooter ran into the side of an SUV.

Officers for the Aztec Police Department were dispatched around 7 p.m. Monday to the intersection of West Aztec Boulevard and Swire Avenue on reports of a vehicle collision, according to Lt. Joe Gonzales.

Adolfo Gomez, 55, was driving a scooter and heading eastbound on West Aztec Boulevard when he and an SUV turning into the westbound lane of West Aztec Boulevard from Swire Avenue collided, Gonzales said.

Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV was not injured, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash for the SUV driver, Gonzales said.

Police are awaiting the results of a toxicology report on the driver of the scooter.

The crash is still under investigation.
